Cool Broms Auckland 2013 Bromeliad Conference was a fantastic event!

This conference had it all…excellent speakers, stunning show plants, original displays, and of course many interesting bromeliad people, over 230 of them!
These are just a few photos to start off the thread.

To finish off this section, here’s the plant that came 1st in Vriesea Foliage, it’s Vriesea Kiwi Burgundy Delight. This really was a well grown and large plant with an unusal burgundy flush...the photo doesn’t quite do it justice.

I’ll sort out some more photos as there were many other amazing plants well worth showing. Those of you who attended the conference, feel free to add your pic’s

Cheers, Andrew.

Vriesea were the stars of Cool Broms. They were stand out plants in the displays, the show, the auction, the garden tours, and in the sales.

The NZ Hybrid display was a popular place to stop, look and talk broms.

Great plants and great photos!  Almost unfair to the other NZ hybrids having all of those sizable Vrieseas.  They are large (and beautiful) enough to just wash away all of the others!  And of course I have to love that a Tillandsia tectorum won the big prize.  Are they generally a little more tough to grow for you guys?  I know they do a lot better here in CA than in the southeast.

You’ll have to bring plants over for the next show Gonz  Tongue Till’s have won the major prizes here for a number of years! I’ve never grown Till. tectorum, but I guess to get it to this size & standard would require some special treatment (I’ve heard of owners using a vacuum cleaner to clean them!) till’s generally seem to do well in our climate.

Here are more Vriesea, Cool Broms style.

Great job on the photos Devo and Totara Pete but to be democratically fair you've avoided all your neo minature hybrids and show plants Devo, so please show us some of these great hybrids too....
