Hi All,

Andrew Raff, here in Melbourne, kindly offered me a couple cuts of this unidentified Neoregelia he collected many years ago from an old property of another grower who had passed away.

He's tried to have the plant identified, with no success.

What really stands out are the following features:
Very thick leaves for a Neoregelia, they feel almost succulent, which the images dont illustrate well. They dont bend as readily as any others we've come across.
Very glossy leaves, when grown in moderately deep shade
Possibly due to the thickness of the leaves, the weight of plants is a bit more than most other Neo's this size.

Any ideas?

Kind Regards,
Erik

Erik,

Your succulent description sounds a little like Neoregelia bahiana but I haven't noticed striations in bahiana before.
